The Alberta Institute Purchasing Management Association of Canada (AIPMAC) is a registered not-for-profit professional association, providing information and education, leading to a professional designation as a C.P.P. (Certified Professional Purchaser). The Alberta Institute is one of 10 Provincial Institutes throughout Canada and the Northwest Territories of the National Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC), located in Toronto, Ontario.
In June 1989, the Alberta Institute of PMAC was registered as a professional association under the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act of the Province of Alberta, officially recognizing the professional title, Certified Professional Purchaser and the abbreviation of the title, C.P.P.
The Alberta Institute has over 1,600 members and program participants in the province, with 30% of our members holding the professional designation Certified Professional Purchaser. Our members work in all the major sectors of the Alberta Economy: manufacturing; business and commercial services; energy; transportation and communications; public administration; and wholesale and retail trade.
We provide comprehensive educational and membership programs designed to help members enhance their skills and broaden their networking opportunities. Membership is open to anyone working in the purchasing, logistics and supply chain management fields. Our members are professionals employed in the field; individuals working on cross-functional teams with supply chain management professionals; or those who hold purchasing responsibilities as part of their job in another field. Students with an interest in learning more about a career in supply chain management or in attending training programs are encouraged to join.
Opportunities exist for both professional and social interaction through participation in District activities. The Alberta Institute has the following Regions: Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Central Alberta, Medicine Hat and Peace Country.
